The Client:
Our client is a specialist school dedicated to young people aged 11-19 with autism. Their structured educational approach nurtures independence, confidence, and vital life skills for future success.
The Role:
You'll play a key role in our client's educational organisation, reporting to the Teaching & Learning Coordinator. Your responsibilities include assessing students, creating custom programs, teaching, monitoring progress, record-keeping, and supporting learners with ASD. You'll also manage Learning Support Assistants and might coordinate subjects if you have subject expertise.
Experience and Qualifications:
Essential:
- Experience in teaching children with special educational needs, particularly those with ASD
- Experience in teaching or working with children and young people in an educational setting
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- No criminal convictions or cautions relevant to student safety and welfare
Desirable:
- Valid clean driving licence
- Experience in curriculum planning
- Familiarity with various teaching and learning styles
Knowledge:
- Autistic Spectrum and related disorders
- Children & Families Bill
- Keeping Children Safe in Education (September 2019)
- Safe manual handling procedures
- Effective positive approaches for working with children with ASD and challenging behaviors
- Anti-discrimination and equal opportunities legislation and practices
- Key aspects of Health and Safety legislation
