My client, a large award-winning Media Publishing House is looking for passionate and experienced Senior Data Product Manager, you will use data and data science to solve business challenges as well as lead the Data Products team.

This role can be 100% home based

Job Introduction

The Publishing House has big ambitions. Their National and Regional digital publications already reach an enormous audience, but they want to be much bigger, and do much better! They are aiming to change the way that their millions of daily online users experience their digital products, and revolutionise the world of online news in the process.

They are building their data and data science functions to drive innovation, to engage and connect with their customers. As a Senior Data Product Manager, you will use data and data science to solve business challenges.

You will lead the cross-functional effort to deliver data and data science products, ensuring that the team meets its business objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

The Data Products team is composed of Data Scientists and Data Engineers that work with data from hundreds of millions of customers and pieces of content.  The team delivers data and data science products that optimise the user experience and increase customer engagement.

Examples of products include, content recommendations, personalisation and audience clustering. We are seeking to recruit a passionate and experienced Product Manager to lead the Data Products team.Gather requirements and build consensus amongst business stakeholders on the products to build. Create and maintain the product roadmap

Use data driven insights to define the product strategy and drive the prioritisation of the backlog

Act as the Agile product owner for the Data Products team, writing user stories, epics, themes and participating in Agile ceremonies 

Build strong relationships and manage multiple business stakeholders including CXO level executives 

Work with Data Science and Engineering teams to understand challenges, solve problems, identify trends and propose solutions

Define metrics to measure product performance and evaluate how well product are doing on, an ongoing basis

Work closely with counterparts in other teams, to manage dependencies and align on requirements

Showcase your team’s work to the rest of the organisation

The Ideal Candidate

For the right candidate, we are willing to offer training to skill up on Data Science. A successful Senior Data Product Manager will have:

A degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, operations research, or comparable work experience.

5+ years experience of product management within media or technology businesses taking products through the full product lifecycle

Comfortable with data and data products  

Experience of quantitative analysis, with solid data analysis and problem solving skills

Business acumen and leadership skills, including the ability to make decisions or recommend a course of action to senior executives

Passion for innovative data and machine learning applications to drive positive outcomes for our customers

Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with Data Science and Engineering teams

Nice to have:

Knowledge of machine learning algorithms. Some knowledge of both supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques 

Previous work with data teams and knowledge of data stacks 

Knowledge of the full machine learning development lifecycle 

Experience of A/B and multivariate testing
