Purchaser / Procurement Specialist (Furniture Manufacturing)

The Client:
Our client is a well-established manufacturing company, crafting exceptional furniture for high-end projects globally with diverse materials for bespoke excellence.
The Role:
As a Purchaser, you will play a pivotal role in creating material take-offs from CAD drawings and discussions with draughtsmen, researching materials and fittings, and contributing to the design development process.
Responsibilities:
- Place orders for timber, sheet materials, veneers, custom-made metalwork, and furniture fittings.
- Ensure effective research and development, along with prototyping, to support successful outcomes and the design office.
- Enhance material procurement processes for timely and cost-effective acquisitions, boosting financial performance.
- Engaging in price negotiations with suppliers to align with project budgets.
- Assess the quality and suitability of purchased goods.
- Follow up on orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Locating subcontractors and supervising the production of components and materials.
- Offering creative input by making informed decisions on material choices and their appropriate use in products.
- Manage the storage and distribution of materials to makers.
- Maintain and check stock levels.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Purchaser or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of timber furniture manufacturing and furniture industry.
- Must have experience in cabinetmaking, particularly in the crafting of high-end, custom-designed furniture.
- Capability to read and interpret CAD drawings.
- Understanding of fitted furniture, panelling integration, and appliance incorporation into buildings.
- Skilled in effective time prioritisation and the capability to identify and manage quality.
