Nursery Manager - Walton-on-Thames (Surrey KT12)

Salary: £35,000 - £41,000 a year

The Company

Our established nursery client who is situated in the heart of Walton-on Thames, being in close proximity to both Walton and Hersham station are looking for an experienced and qualified Nursery Manager who is passionate about children’s learning and development to join their team.

The Role

The nursery is looking for an exceptional person who is committed to offering the best in early year’s education for the children in our care; who understands the importance of providing a great service for our busy parents; and who can inspire, support and lead our wonderful staff team.

Hours: 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm Monday-Friday

The role involves providing professional leadership and management of the nursery team, effectively managing the day-to day running of the nursery and deliver the highest standards of care and education.

As a Nursery Manager you will be the first point of call to all families and colleagues in the setting. You will be approachable and understanding, with an ability to resolve queries, provide feedback and offer advice as well as directly line manage your team. You will be proficient in ICT and familiar with supporting the administrative duties of a full day nursery. You will be confident in delivering feedback and reporting on progress, both of the setting and to colleagues as part of team meetings or individual appraisal, supervisions and training.

  • To build and maintain a reputation as the setting of choice in the area for both children and employees
  • To maintain a stable, positive and effective staff team
  • To manage the administrative side with clear organization and timelines in mind
  • To create positive relationships with the schools where our children continue their education once they leave our setting
  • To participate proactively in wider company activities and projects in order to build and enhance the team
  • To prepare for a variety of audits and inspections and demonstrate the ability to lead on and enact changes based on these
  • To sustain a commercially viable business by mindful budgeting and consistently aiming for challenging targets
  • To oversee a safe, highly educational and healthy environment in which children and staff can flourish
  • To support and lead the nursery team by inspiring, motivating, mentoring and directing
  • To meet the highest standards and expectations set by OFSTED, other external agencies and senior management
  • To ensure that all safeguarding requirements are at the forefront of daily practice and proc#
  • To ensure that processes are robust, understood and followed

Skills & Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A minimum Level 3 in childcare
  • A minimum of two years proven leadership in a senior position within childcare
  • The successful candidate is expected to undergo a DBS check
  • Detailed knowledge of OFSTED, the EYFS guidelines and
  • A high level of organisational ability
  • A passion for child-centred education
  • An ability to interact confidently and effectively with external agencies
  • Experience of interfacing with parents and providing excellent customer service
  • A commitment to continued professional development and growth
  • A clear understanding of safeguarding and SEN provision
