Director of Marketing and Communications Aldham - Remote / Working from Home

Salary:  up to £65,000 + benefits

The Company:

Our client is not like other broadband providers, and they don’t really want to be. They’re currently on a mission to ensure rural villages in the East of England can access full-fibre broadband, that’s future-ready. Unlike many other broadband service providers, they work with the community to build full-fibre broadband networks, which they fund through private investment. They then provide a new, future ready, Hyper fast service to homes and businesses within the village.

They are now looking for a Director of Marketing and Communications to join their team based in Aldham , Essex, working remotely.

About the role:

you will report directly to our Chief Commercial Officer and will be responsible for the organisations marketing and communication strategies, as well as overall branding and image.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Formulates the Marketing and Communications strategy for both internal and external stakeholders with a focus on digital and village marketing

• Owns, manages and delivers the company’s strategy across multiple platforms in order to achieve its growth

• Promotes PR and establishes PR relationships with key industry related stakeholders

• Creates and implements the company’s PR strategy with key performance indicators driven by amount of PR pieces created and their coverage across our consumer base

• Develops strategies and tactics to boost the company’s reputation within its consumers communities to drive engagement and uptake of our services

• Deploys successful marketing campaigns from ideation to execution

• Produces valuable and engaging content for the company’s website and blogs that attracts and converts our target customer base

• Measures and reports on the performance of marketing campaigns, gains insight and assesses against goals, analyses consumer behaviour, and adjusts campaigns accordingly

• Creates internal communications protocols and initiatives working alongside the People section of the business

• Ensures that communications to our customers about regular updates regarding build projects in their area are sent within agreed SLA’s and tailored to engage and inform them

• Create the appropriate tone of our outgoing marketing and communications making sure that they are positively received by County Broadband’s consumer base promoting us as their broadband supplier of choice

• Engages with ‘community centred’ social media channels to raise our profile with our customers

• Guide the day-to-day activities of the marketing and communications team

• Continually review changes to the market, consumer trends and the activities of competitors, adjusting the marketing plan if necessary

• Provide tools and materials to enable the sales team to function effectively

• Produces reports using established metrics to gauge consumer engagement with our digital and physical marketing materials

• Creates a plan to measure direct marketing activity to be used when reporting the departments KPI’s

• Drives the corporate social responsibility activities of the business through the use of the charity arm of the organisation

• Negotiate with media agencies and secure agreements on the production of promotional materials

• Set and administer an annual marketing budget in collaboration with the finance department

Qualifications and Experience:


  • Level 7 professional qualification from the Chartered Institute of Marketing


  • Previous experience in a senior marketing role
  • Proven success in leading a company’s marketing operation and creating and executing effective marketing strategies
  • Creative and out-of-the-box thinking to devise innovative marketing campaigns
  • Strong project management and people management skills
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and SEO to effectively lead digital marketing campaigns
  • Strong leadership skills to effectively lead the marketing operation
  • Excellent analytical skills to effectively analyse market trends and competitors
  • Strong financial skills to effectively review financial forecasts and set targets
  • Highly organised
  • An excellent communicator
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels
  • Willing to undertake any training and development suitable for the growth of the role
